Sen. Kamala Harris says she has seen autopsy photos of slaughtered children after gun-related massacres. Shouldn't all Pols see them?

Shouldn't they have to see the aftermath just so they are completely informed about it and what it looks like especially with regard to the babies and toddlers and young kids and teenagers that are murdered. Why?

Look at it this way - soft drinks kill more people in this country than guns do.  Same with sugar, drugs,   other industrial foods.  What about cars? Planes"  Are all of those 9 and more) to be outlawed and "taken away" from us?  Freedom.  And part of freedom is our personal responsibility to use it responsibly for ourselves and others.

That is a ridiculous comparison.  None of the things you mentioned are produced for the sole purpose of killing.  There is only one purpose for guns.

But some would argue that the purpose of guns is to AVOID killing.  Protection.  And when they don't kill they only wound.

Outside of the military and the police NO ONE, NO ONE, needs an AR-15.

Well I don't know what that is - I suppose some kind of gun - and would probably agree with you.  Nevertheless whether they should or not I guess they had it.  And again playing devil's advocate some people would have argued that if someone present had a gun and knew how to use it they could have taken the shooter out and saved some lives.  Real life can not be based just upon shoulds.

Perhaps you might educate yourself about the weapon that is most often used in mass shootings before you opine on it's ease of sale.  The argument that "if someone else had a gun they could have used it" is spurious at best.  You don't expect to have to be armed to the teeth when you go to school.

Even being armed is not going to stop a mass shooting.  If anything, accidental killings would likely happen.  Geez Louse.  I know if I suddenly had a gun pointed at me and likely firing, my hands would shake way too hard to get my gun out to respond.

You make a good point.  The best example is the shooting in the cinema.  It's dark, you don't know who's shooting, people are screaming and running all over the place and some yahoo with a gun decides he's going to use it.  What could possibly go wrong?

It takes incredible training to be able to handle a gun with precision and with a level head.  I seriously doubt that arming the average kid or adult will stop someone with a semi automatic rifle in a planned ambush situation.

Until people start believing that protecting people is more important then protecting their gun rights nothing will ever change.
Comparing drinking sodas and car accidents to killing kids with guns is totally insane and really doesn't warrant a response.
We can't reason with people that say crap like that.

I think most reasonable people get that we need much stricter gun laws that will be enforced to the letter.

Did you see the big protest the students in Parkland, Fla. had going?  They are demanding change!  I dare the president to take the time to listen to them.  I love how they are so proactive not allowing the tragic murders of their fellow classmates be in vain.

I hope the country will take a stand and make the government do the right thing.
But I won't hold my breath.

Most reasonable people DO believe in sensible gun control.  This BS of the NRA making it sound as though they want to take all their guns away is ridiculous.  Serious background checks for the purchase of EVERY gun should be mandatory - no buying them at gun shows with nothing but your driver's license as ID.

Exactly right Spunky.  I know very few people that want to ban all guns.  These horrific mass shootings don't seem to happen in other civilized countries.  I wonder why that is?

Should all policians have to look at the remains of an abortion?

What law do you believe would stop all mass shootings?

Another ridiculous comparison.  A person who decides to get a abortion is making that decision only for themselves.  Terminating a pregnancy does not take other lives with it.

And the unborn child in their womb. It also effects the Father and family.
What law would prevent these mass shootings?

You are assuming that there is a known father or that the father cares or that the father has not given his consent.  A prohibition for anyone not in the military or law enforcement to have an AR-15.

In any case it affects the Father.
So you believe all mass shootings are by AR15s?

I believe it affects much more of the society.  I had an unfortunate abortion when I was 19 - did not feel I was ready for motherhood and the "known father" (the assumption being that if we choose to have an abortion we likely don't know who the father is?) , who was my boyfriend , didn't care at all. But as soon as I was out I realized I had made a grave mistake by taking a life.  Now may be argued that because my child was part of me that it was not a separate life but nonetheless I still murdered a part of myself. I have never had children - was never able to carry any of my subsequent pregnancies to term and I carry the burden and responsibility for what I had done with me always. Now the argument that the number of deaths is what counts is not a strong one - even if the shooter had murdered only one school kid it would have been just as bad.

Are you going to tell me the AR 15 (or similar style) is not the weapon of choice for mass shootings?  The NRA would disagree with you.

"The National Rifle Association has called the AR-15 — the semi-automatic, civilian version of the military’s M-16 — the "most popular rifle in America" and estimates Americans own more than 8 million of them.

Here is a list of mass shootings in the U.S. that featured AR-15-style rifles during the last 35 years, courtesy of the Stanford Geospatial Center and Stanford Libraries and USA TODAY research:

    • Feb. 24, 1984: Tyrone Mitchell, 28, used an AR-15, a Stoeger 12-gauge shotgun and a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun to kill two and wound 12 at 49th Street Elementary School in Los Angeles before killing himself.
    • Oct. 7, 2007: Tyler Peterson, 20, used an AR-15 to kill six and injure one at an apartment in Crandon, Wis., before killing himself.
    • June 20, 2012: James Eagan Holmes, 24, used an AR-15-style .223-caliber Smith and Wesson rifle with a 100-round magazine, a 12-gauge Remington shotgun and two .40-caliber Glock semi-automatic pistols to kill 12 and injure 58 at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.
    • Dec. 14, 2012: Adam Lanza, 20, used an AR-15-style rifle, a .223-caliber Bushmaster, to kill 27 people — his mother, 20 students and six teachers — in Newtown, Conn., before killing himself.
    • June 7, 2013: John Zawahri, 23, used an AR-15-style .223-caliber rifle and a .44-caliber Remington revolver to kill five and injure three at a home in Santa Monica, Calif., before he was killed.
    • March 19, 2015: Justin Fowler, 24, used an AR-15 to kill one and injure two on a street in Little Water, N.M., before he was killed.
    • May 31, 2015: Jeffrey Scott Pitts, 36, used an AR-15 and .45-caliber handgun to kill two and injure two at a store in Conyers, Ga., before he was killed.
    • Oct. 31, 2015: Noah Jacob Harpham, 33, used an AR-15, a .357-caliber revolver and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol to kill three on a street in Colorado Springs, Colo., before he was killed.
    • Dec. 2, 2015: Syed Rizwyan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, 28 and 27, used two AR-15-style, .223-caliber Remington rifles and two 9 mm handguns to kill 14 and injure 21 at his workplace in San Bernardino, Calif., before they were killed.
    • June 12, 2016: Omar Mateen, 29, used an AR-15 style rifle (a Sig Sauer MCX), and a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol to kill 49 people and injure 50 at an Orlando nightclub before he was killed.
    • Oct. 1, 2017: Stephen Paddock, 64, used a stockpile of guns including an AR-15 to kill 58 people and injure hundreds at a music festival in Las Vegas before he killed himself.
    • Nov. 5, 2017: Devin Kelley, 26, used an AR-15 style Ruger rifle to kill 26 people at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, before he was killed.
    • Feb. 14, 2018: Police say Nikolas Cruz, 19, used an AR-15-style rifle to kill at least 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fl."

As you just posted there are over 8million AR15s out there. Why should the misuse a few cause other law abiding citizens to loose their choose of protection? What do you think they would use without the AR15? I know you don't believe that would stop them.

Do you have any idea how many different kinds of guns there are besides AR-15s?  Apparently you don't.
