My beliefs/opinions/views (i.e. convictions) are tidy and “calm”, but they are by no means fixed. Fixed convictions are a sign of a closed mind. A closed mind is very dangerous, as it cannot conceive of its convictions ever being erroneous or incomplete. While I don’t go flaunting my convictions, I am passionate about many of them (especially religion). As such, I have been accused of having a closed mind on many issues. {Am I wrong in concluding that, in a debate, where one side can substantiate their claim with valid evidence (facts, figures, etc.) and the other side cannot, that the one who has the proof isn’t being closed-minded?} I believe that, while one should hold fast to their convictions until they are fully convinced otherwise (through facts, evidence and such), they also shouldn’t close their mind to the possibility that they may be wrong.
