I'm strongly in favor of states' rights.
However, immigration is one of the items that I agree is a federal matter that supersedes a state's rights.
Otherwise, we would have 50+ sets of immigration rules.
You could be a legal citizen in Oregon ... cross the border to Idaho, and you're an illegal that can be deported to wherever they choose.
From what I can tell ... the federal lawsuit is over state laws the prohibit officials from volunteering information to the feds.
I don't know if you can legally tell somebody NOT to "volunteer" information, that is a matter of public record anyway.
But all the feds have to do is request the public record ... or get a warrant.
Hell, sounds like an opportunity for more federal jobs, to me.
