Florida will start training teachers to carry loaded guns in class. I wonder if teachers ever thought they'd have to pass that test?

Florida is a hot shot state that the NRA thinks is simply great. It's where old folks go to retire. Are they weaponized as well or just the younger more sprinty  folks? Well for those who think it's a super duper thing to do why not move there? Support the great state that is the first to arm its teachers? What better way to show your approval (and impress  the NRA) then to become a resident?. Sunshine State to Weaponized State. I wonder how many other states will proudly be weaponized in the schools as well? Guesses?

That will never happen.  Please say that will never happen.  Please say that.

And... OF COURSE in this day and age IT IS FREAKING TRUE.

    Not fake news, freaking news.

Bill to arm some Florida teachers, restrict rifle sales passes state house, goes to governor

That is a headline on the net.

Oh brother.  You know what?  I hope the teachers who are armed kill each other.  That's all I can say. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at March 8, 2018 9:58 AM MST

I have always held teaching  to be  the MOST NOBLE profession. Teachers shape minds. They encourage students to think! Well that was before. Now? Any teacher who agrees to be weaponized is dead to me . Seriously. My kid is a college professor as you know. I wonder are they going to weaponize college professors? Not my kid but others? Oh My GOD! :( Thank you for your reply Sharon. This post was edited by RosieG at March 9, 2018 6:40 AM MST

I don't have the pleasure of knowing your son, but of course my roommate knows him very well, and I KNOW he would never consent to arming himself as a teacher in a school.

I think that most teachers would agree with us, Rosie and those who do not are scary types who WANT an excuse to arm themselves and brag about it.

I know there are going to be many crime stories dealing with teachers who have guns.  Just wait for the next decade if this gets to be something that catches on.

I have seen several teachers in interviews and none of them think having a gun in school is a good idea.

The scenarios for tragic consequences are endless Sharon. What if Teacher is a drug addict or alcoholic or has clinical depression and doesn't take his/her meds or has a mental breakdown? A loaded gun at hand? Recipe for more mass murder only this time the murderer is already inside the school and  weaponized. What stupid a** thought of that? I want a name!  Thank you for your reply Sharon. So you never encountered Rich on Answerbag then? Anyway this whole thing is a real nightmare. Years ago we used to have drills in school in case someone dropped a bomb. Drop and cover. We dropped to the ground under our desks and covered our heads with our arms. But the bomb is now INSIDE the classroom. Bringing it up close and personal. :( This post was edited by RosieG at March 9, 2018 6:46 AM MST

Geez Lulu'sMom me too. Us too. Geez. I can't even almost stand the thought of having had my kid in school with  an armed teacher. Where is the weapon carried? In plain sight?  Thank you for your reply! :)

I'll just bet that this will be the catalyst for all parents to pull kids OUT of school and start looking for other resources to educate their kids like home schooling and the internet.

    No more school buildings.  Someday.

I don't doubt it. I sure as he** wouldn't want my kid to attend a school that was a replica of the wild west where at any time a gunfight could start. I mean the NRA won't even allow legislators to make parks off limits for folks with loaded guns. Kids playing could be in the crossfire. How high does Stupid go? Who knows? Thank you for your reply Sharon! :)

What if the teacher is an alcoholic or drug addict or a gambler and loses a lot of money or has clinical depression and doesn't take his/her meds or has a mental breakdown? Grab a loaded gun and start shooting? The possibilities of triggering a trigger are endless. Woe is us. Thank you for your reply Lulus Mom! :)
