Ever visited the state m2c? Or do you just hate blue states for their color? Anyway if you should ever change your mind let me know. Thank you for your reply.
So the usual tourist traps. Lake Arrowhead is beautiful. So is the Mammoth area. San Francisco is among my favorite places in the entire world. We have charming little towns along the coast and even inland. Ever hear of the Mission Inn? It's in Riverside where we used to live and only 30 miles from us. It is enormous and during the holidays it is all lit up with moving figures and lights. Zillions of them. People come there from all over to witness it. It is something to see! Los Angeles is sprawling but there is a lot of energy there. We have state fairs (Pomona for example) where people bring their homemade things and compete for Blue Ribbons. We aren't really all that sophisciated a place...not like New York City. There are enclaves of course where the rich and famous live...famous streets, restaurants. Very pricy and exclusive. But most of us don't go there. We have everything weather-wise that you could want within easy driving. Skiing, the beach, the mountains, the desert. Something for everyone. So you have family here? Good to know. Thank you for your reply m2c! :)
I used to live in CA - San Francisco, Berkeley, and other places - but I have chosen to live in Eastern MA because I like it better here. More congenial to me as I am really an Eastern girl by birth. Besides I have done well here so why would I want to trade for a place that would only hire me as a chambermaid, waitress, or bar girl? Here I have been able to go beyond just those based upon my work. Actually I quite like the cold but could do without so much snow.
My son got his undergraduate degree from Cal Berkeley and lived up north for a few years. Coincidentally he was born in Massachusetts. We lived there for five years in East Acton and moved back to California when he was 3. I loved it there. I didn't like the black ice in winter or the salting of the snow in winter(so it would melt) which caused the undercarriages of cars to rot. You can always tell a car from the east because of that. I also didn't like the spraying for bugs in summer but I loved the people and the history and the autumns were incomparable. We lived near Walden Pond and would sometimes go there, spread a blanket on the sand and sit and enjoy the view. Massachusetts will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for your reply og! :)
I'm in the NE Rosie. The forecast for SE Pa. is not so bad. May see a few flakes, but after the last two storms, this one should not be a big impact on us.
