Yep, it's crap alright.

Ain't dat de troof, man. The data gathered by the Innocence Project shows what your chances of acquittal are depending on your social status and wealth, and who you know. It is an ugly picture.
For all the exonerations of the innocent by IP investigation, how many more innocent victims likely molder away in our gaols without hope.
Even so, IP will only investigate where a big question already hangs over the conviction, and where DNA is available for testing. That means DNA evidence had to have been recognized and properly collected in the first place; stored in such a way as to remain viable and uncontaminated; the evidence relating to the crime has not been subsequently discarded due to storage-space constraints or carelessness; the records must allow the evidence to be located and retrieved from storage; the controlling authority must be agreeable to releasing the evidence for testing.
This obviously allows only a very narrow window of opportunity for even the most innocent incarcerated individual.
Anyone who doesn't know what factors are most implicated in cases of wrongful convictions, in order of significance, is not likely to guess the horrible reality of it - and exactly why the contributing factors are so effective in obscuring the truth.

        

You have  touched upon the real ugly truth of the “Justice” system -  the poor do the time, the rich just pay the lawyers. It has always been thus.

No.  You make sort of a valid point when you rail at the moon over the injustice, but the point is chance plays a huge role in the jury, the ability of the prosecuter, no matter how worthy, can actually bring it to every jury put in front of him.

Yes, money happens to reign heavy in this matter and on that you can rely, but it is not necessarily a done deal.  It is just a big advantage.'

Maybe you can get a dynamite defense attorney to back your cause and do it pro bono or reasonably enough because he wants to make a name for himself by having you for a client.

Make sure you commit a bold and original crime.
