Yes. It was how I grew up. In the 60's. I pray we get there again and soon. I don't mean the dissent and rioting and fighting.
I mean the dissent and standing up for what is right and not backing down --and going into decades of ennui that we let happen in the 80's-- once more. Jimmy Carter and his easy, slow manner was not good enough for the hard-driven, greedy yuppie mindset of the latter 70's and 80's and this is what we wound up with.
The student leaders were apparently made up of JOURNALISTS on staff of the school newspapers and those in theater arts or on the debate teams primarily. Which is why they were so intelligently articulate and composed and calm. Just what we need in our leaders of tomorrow and I am CERTAIN their names will not fade away. We will be hearing from them futurely and possibly have the honor of voting for them. Maybe not me. I'm kinda old. But I would LOVE to be able to vote for any one of them. Yesterday was very uplifting. The size of the crowds alone was heartening. That there were 800 "sister" or "sibling" marches worldwide means our kids are on to something that is universal. They don't want to die just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thank you for your thoughtful reply Sharon and the graphic.
