In some cases, I suspect it's parental neglect of the child's emotional needs. In some cases, a parent may be exceptionally talented or intelligent and the child may feel as though he/she will never measure up - the parent may convey the impression that the child is a disappointment.
Yes. Parents who attack their children in various ways and tell them they will never amount to anything for example. Or harp on particular things to make the child self-conscious and feel inadequate/"less than". Some parents are terrible and have no clue. Thank you for your reply L and Happy Monday. I think the donjohn's parents never cuddled him or loved him. He is so needy even as a rich old man. The hole within him grows ever larger and all the "compliments" in the world won't be enough to fill it. And he takes it out on everyone. :(
I agree that some parents should probably never had children. You're supposed to nurture a child - not constantly harp on their "inadequacies." I believe Trump did not grow up in a very loving or affectionate home. I would imagine his father was distant and unaffectionate. y\You don't hear anything about his mother either. All the money in the world will not fill that empty hole of need. Happy Monday, Rosie. :)
Exactamundo L! I guess to one degree or another we are all products of our parents. Either by adoring them and trying to be like them or abhoring them and wanting to be nothing like them. I'm gonna ask! Thank you for your reply! :)
