Gee Step I wish I had watched the movie with you. I did not get any of the significance or meaning that you describe. It went right over my head. My heart broke when the tiger walked to the edge of the forest and paused. I was waiting for him to look back and with his eyes say goodbye. I really appreciate your explaining to me. Now I wonder how many other movies did I not understand? What did that island of animals represent? It apparently was filled with lemurs and I didn't know why. It was supposedly safe during the day but at night became carnivorous so that's why they had to sleep up in the trees. And the water that was drinkable in these small pools during the day because  poisonous at night. I will look for it and watch it again with a new eye. Thanks again for taking the time to explain it to me. I really appreciate it! :) ((hugs))

I saw it and loved it. That was with Johnny Depp? I wonder what didn't I understand about it? You know there was a movie I saw years ago Step with John Turturro and John  Goodman that must have been allegorical. I did not have a clue what it was about. At the end the motel where they are bursts into flames as they walk out. At least that's what I remember. It was very weird and bizarre and odd  but I enjoy John Turturro and John Goodman.. Was it supposed to be he**? I was shaken up quite a bit by your answer today but you could have simply insulted me for not getting it and moved on. I appreciate that you didn't do that. Thank you again. I am going to seek the book out and read it and then watch it again when I can with new eyes. I must tell you though that I will always want the Tiger to look back at Pi, make eye contact  and nod or something before he disappears into the jungle. It touched my heart and that won't change. I will also always want them to meet again sometime. Somewhere. And reconnect for a brief moment. See ya kiddo! You are a very  kind person and I appreciate the time you gave to letting me know what I missed. :)

I've been dying to get around to see that movie.  It looks great, got bad reivews, and mentions at the Oscars.  I think I would like this move a LOT.  It is right up my alley.

I LOVED it.  BUT I found out later than it was allegorical which means I didn't understand what I was seeing at all!  But  I still love my version of it best even though I KNOW better now. Thank you for your reply  Sharonna and Happy Tuesday!   :)
