Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» He lies all the time about everything. Why make a big deal out of his lies about Amazon and the Post Office? Are they specialer?
I think if the Post office is loosing money on packages etc. Then rather than singling out Amazon....the Post Office simply needs to raise their rates. If Amazon is getting a better deal because of bulk use...fine but PO should still make a profit on each package delivered.
Loose vs. Lose. Lose is a verb that means “to fail to win, to misplace, or to free oneself from something or someone.” Loose is an adjective that means “not tight.”
The Post Office is not permitted to operate its package delivery service in a manner that loses money. Therefore, if Amazon, or any other bulk user, enters into a negotiated contract for special rates, the Post Office is not losing money. In fact, if it wasn't for the package delivery unit of the Post Office, it would probably go broke. The reason Trump is singling out Amazon is because he can't stand Jeff Bezos.
No actually the loss of money is a law that requires them to fund their healthcare and pension prefund this for 50-75 yrs...they are the only business with that requirement. But it that is what is required then they need to adjust their pricing to be able to make those payments.
There is no report showing the breakdown of cost vs income of packages shipped. So we do not know if they are in fact making money on package shipping.
But regardless if you need $xxx money annually to make a profit then fees much be adjusted to make that $xxx money.

This is why I consider Trump is dangerous---He proposes solutions that have no relation to the causes of what he considers to be a problem and gives us simplistic and useless answers.
Then people think they should do the same thing.
If you knew about the limitations on rate changes and the costs of providing services under the universal mandate the USPS was given, would have expected your answer to have been made in light of such restrictions.
It seems to me that the Post office has been operating at a deficit for decades. Long before the internet existed. Apparently the donjohn hates Jeff Bezos for actually being a multi-billionaire. Go figger! Thank you for your reply m2c! :)

Trump shows little or no familiarity with the universal mandate of the postal service and the restrictions imposed on it by Congress. Further, it is allowed to operate up to its maximum allowed deficit.
Trump is never swayed from attacking those he considers his enemies by the potential collateral damage of his attempts at revenge.
It is the great failure of those who voted for him that they were unaware of the great damage that a man of essentially no morals and no ethics can wreak upon the country that he now is in the position of leading.
"Falling feels like flying---for a little while." (But watch out for that ballistic landing.)
Edit---added "from."

There may have been an excuse for them at the beginning tom. Perhaps foolish hope outweighed historical reality. One can always hope. HOWEVER the reality of what the man is they defend with great intensity and adamant certainty/passion/indignation/fury. For that there is no excuse but that they deserve him. We don't...those of us who didn't vote for him... but that didn't matter. I hope it will matter soon. Thank you for your reply! :)
