Politics is uglier now in every way than it was before. The people engaged in it are uglier too and greedier and meaner and eviler. WHY?

I don't know that it is uglier. 
We have not had any duals lately or had anyone beat up in Congress. 

I'm thinking that it's not any uglier, greedier, and meaner than usual, I think it's more due to the fact that this time around it's gotten more air and press time than in the past. I believe that's due, in large, to Trump, who is an outsider and not part of the establishment, being elected President. What makes it worse is that the media just can't let it go. They keep shoving it in the face of the people which keeps stoking the fires. :)

No I would attribute that perception to our own curiosity and desire and prurient interest.  Where once we were content to simply respect our elected officials now we are eager for all the secrets and the "dirt" on them.  Because really we don't have anything better to do with our time and lives.
