The number of people who care about fair/just/honorable/truth seem to be decreasing as the population increases. Is there a connection?

We get less and settle for less and accept less and soon that is the "norm". Why don't people care enough to fight for what is right? The few who do are often maligned/attacked/undermined. What happened to decency and when did it become antiquated?
