Media companies are only concerned about making money Rosie.....They thrive on disasters and delight in showing the most gory things to sell thier papers and get people to watch their tv news spots...... They show images of such horrid thing on front pages displayed uncensored on news stands... Very young childred can see them as they walk past..... I wonder how that effects them when they see it..:(
That is an excellent point D. I doubt anyone thinks about them but their parents. You know what gets to me bigly? Chases. I swear if there is a police chase anywhere the cameras are hovering above covering it until the end. That can take hours. Why the fixation on something like that I wonder? Of course if it is going on in YOUR neighborhood you probably want to stay clear of it. It is always reported with such excitement. Why I don't know. But I guess that is better than gory though some stations don't show those images thankfully. When driving along and the traffic slows to a crawl and you see a terrible accident ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FREEWAY I always wonder WHY folks want to stare at it so much they slow down to get a glimpse. Of what? Blood/death? Go figger! Thank you for your reply D! :)
It's called Rubber necking here in England....it causes many accident on fast moving motorways with drivers taking their eyes if if the road...... Lately I've been watching a program called Dashcam ,it's of crashes and miricle escapes from around the world caught on camera..... The most horrific crashes and people walk away with out a scratch on them......A Chinese woman knocked off of her bike by a fifty foot articulated lorry......the lorry drove over her from front to rear axle and every wheel missed her ......she just got up and walked away unhurt.... There are to many miricleous escapes to comment on.....So many are totally unbelievable.....people just thrown from fast moving vehicles and they end up standing on their feet unhurt...... So many are just so moving to watch.....
Did I ever tell you about our unbelievable accident D? In was Friday, August 13, 2004 but who remembers? I was driving and Jim was asleep. We were going up north to visit his sister and attend the Antiques Roadshow. She had gotten tickets for us and it was to be held in Reno, Nevada. She lived in a suburb of Reno. It started raining and I guess I didn't slow down enough. The car started fishtailing and then it went around and around and around in a spin and then inexplicably it went into rollovers. Jim slept through it. We were on our side as we slammed undercarriage first into a mountain. Here's the miracle. We walked away from it eventually. Cars stopped. An ambulance arrived. We were cut out of our seatbelts and taken to Mammoth emergency hospital. We were black and blue and banged up. Jim had a mild concussion and I had shards of glass embedded in my forehead and left arm which the nurse spent hours picking out with tweezers. No permanent damage. My son drove over 300 miles from Santa Monica to Lee Vining, a town near Mammoth to pick us up since our car was totaled. When he saw the car he could not believe we survived it. I have read numerous accounts of rollovers subsequently and no one survived them. It was a miracle that no one else was involved. No one was coming toward us as we rolled over the freeway lanes. Just us. So go figger!. 14 years ago I was 66 and Jim was 68. Kinda old but here we are! I would have loved to see the tape of THAT. Well, maybe not. Thank you for your reply D. Any miracles in your life?

If fate says it's not your time then you can survive almost anything.....how many people have survived jumping out of aircrafts and their parachutes have failed....... The crashes I've seen on that tv show you would think every one in them would have been torn to shreds.....so many get thrown out and you would expect certain death but they all survive with barely any injuries....
I could not watch if it envolves people getting terrible hurt or disfigured.......
What ever the accident whether natural disaster or from vehicles crashes ,no one ever gets hurt......:)
That's good. Guaranteed happy endings. But still I'm kinda squeamish and having had that real-life experience will take care of me for life. Been there done that. Thank you for your reply D! :)
Yep! Fer Shure! It still amazes us all these years later retrospectively. Lucky we were. That is an understatement. Maybe our Guardian Angels were working overtime! Thank you for your reply D! :
