    The world always needs love.

However, right now I think it needs common sense.  Forgive me here, but people are really stupid.  They believe everything they see or hear.  They think they can use a phone and drive - simultaneously.  They build a house in a flood plain and then get mad at the government when their house floods.

With all due respects to Burt Bacharach, I slightly updated his song - (sung to the tune of "what the world needs now")

What the world needs now is com-mon sense
Too many people are just plain ol’ idiots

What the world needs now is com-mon sense
No not just for some but for everyone.

Lord, we don't need another Facebook
There’s Twitter and YouTube on which we’re hooked

They lie, steal our data and give us fake news
as to keep us pacified, naive and confused.

What the world needs now is com-mon sense
Why are there so many stupid idiots

What the world needs now is com-mon sense,
No there’s not an app; no you can’t download it.

Lord, we don't need any more cell phones,
There are smartphones and ringtones enough to chime
There are 5-G’s and 6-g’s enough to stream
Hear me, lord, my bars are getting low

What the world needs now is com-mon sense
Too many people are just plain, ol’ idiots

What the world needs now is com-mon sense,
No there’s not an app; no you can’t download it.

I like it a lot Shuhak. One caveat. I would have used the word "dense" because it rhymes with common sense. "Too many people are just too dense" but stupid idiots works too. The latest stupid dumb trick was what Paul Ryan did in firing the House Chaplain. Why? Well the Chaplin apparently got "too political" in what he said. How? Well he apparently spoke about the poor and how things like tax cuts don't benefit them. He didn't follow the GOP script and now is out of a job. Censorship is alive and well in D.C. I bet that makes you feel comfy as he** doesn't it? The insane are running the asylum. The rejects and scrum are in charge and are making the rules. Of course scrum is incapable of producing anything but scum so we're stuck temporarily. Any ideas of what the best scum remover is? I'm gonna ask. Thank you for your very clever, spot-on and thoughtful reply and Happy Sunday! :)

What? I thought I did use "dense".  Hmm... guess that didn't make the final cut.  I was writing, erasing and rewriting so many times, trying to keep the meter as well as rhyme that some words were lost.  Believe it or not, it took me nearly 2 hours to "perfect" that song.  If I weren't such a perfectionist, I'd probably had it done in 20 minutes.

D.C. is full of egos (and not just Donny Tweet's).  The "me first" attitude is rampant (nationwide).  Screw freedom of speech,  it's all "my ego first".  Bruise that ego and you're history.  Say something that "offends" (true or not) and you're fired.  Newsflash for all those D.C. idiots... you're not the center of the world.  So what if  someone said something that hurt your widdle feewing (aw, poor bay-bee).  Jeez, grow a pair!  How many times have you offended the American people? Weird. But the software here apparently removes some responses and humans have nothing to do with it! Automatic censorship? Very weird. Here's my newest terror. I read that futurely we will not be able to tell the difference between truth and lies. There are programs that can duplicate the sound of a voice exactly and programs that can use images of real people and make them appear to be saying things they never said. And we won't be able to figure out which is true and which is faux. Which means we shall not be able to PROVE truth or REFUTE lies. So when we reach that point which is apparently almost upon us NOW what do we do? Give up? Give in? Stop believing anything or believe everything? HELP. AU SECOURS! SOS!  I cahn't stend it! How do we approach a future where nothing means anything and everything means something and we will never  know which is which? Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Maybe disinformation will be our undoing and not nuclear war or chemical warfare. :( This post was edited by RosieG at April 30, 2018 2:34 AM MDT
