We use both. Retailers who sell products by weight are obliged to price them in pounds/ounces and in kilograms.

For everyday purposes we tend to use imperial; more people know their own body weight in stones and pounds than in kilos. Property is sold by the square foot and acre, and I would get some very strange looks if I told someone it was "7 kilometres" to such and such a place.

But where mathematical accuracy is required, for architects' drawings for instance, it's always metres / centimetres / millimetres.

Both Rev? Oh. Huh. Okey dokey! Thank you for your informative reply and Happy Tuesday. Is one easier to use than another? Of course I've grown up on pounds and ounces so Metrics seem really complicated. Are measurements more accurate metrically? Are there more degrees/levels you can use? :)
