Well I'm more of a carpenter then a scientist but my theory is  -  Isotopes vary in different areas so  as early humans migrated and settled in different Continents and after a few generations they absorbed the Isotopes in that area.  Some Isotopes caused a red pigment in the skin some Isotopes caused a carnal pigment or white pigment. After a few more generations skin pigment became a genic thing/ Cheers!

Isotopes? That is really scientificky isn't it Nanoose? I've heard the word but never really knew what it meant. I just looked it up. It has to do with chemistry which I never took in school. So that make skin color a result of the environment and an automatic reaction to the surroundings. I mean exposure to the sun darkens the skin. Whatever else is involved has always been a mystery to me and maybe you just nailed it m'dear. Thank you for your thoughtful share and Happy Monday! :)
