I'd love to hear a story, if you care to share one of yours.
In general, animals are pretty good (all be they inconsistent) judges of character. I've had pets over the years who could 'sense' trouble from strangers about whom I had no clue.
Why does my cat hate my lover?
Hmm...
I would trust my cat's judgment. My dog likes anyone and everyone no matter what.
We had a German Shepherd when I was a teenager. That dog loved everyone.... everyone except one of my brother's friends. The dog would growl at him and would pounce if the guy so much as moved. One time, the guy brought his girlfriend and baby by the house. The dog wouldn't let the guy hold his own child. Every time he made a move towards the baby, the dog lunged and snarled. This was very very odd because it was such a sweet dog. Anyway, it wasn't long after this that the guy was sent to prison for murdering and robbing someone.
I know what you mean. I had a doggie that was similar. She went around and greeted everybody with a nuzzle. There were very few people she didn't like.
Yikes!
They read energy. They can sense. They don't need eyes as much as we depend on them. When we go blind, all our other senses awaken. It is kind of like that for dogs. They don't speak. They listen and they feel. Oh and they can SMELL like there is no tomorrow and their best faculty? They can hear.
Using one's OTHER senses broadens the TRUTH that life is not what is seen in front of your face, it is what is sensed by the unseen clues.
SO, I don't know what they sense according to each person. I know if they growl, they are threatened by something about the person. The person may be really nice, but have a strange scent that wards off the dog approaching. Some dogs can smell illness. Some can smell fear and react.
So, you cannot just go by the dog's opinion.
She (the cat) hated my Dad the first time they met. She hissed and spit at him and ran away. He is now her favorite person. She's a feral, and never been a lap cat, but she will follow him around when he's there and wait for him to sit anywhere. In the time between their first meeting and now my Dad was diagnosed with cancer, and subsequently had surgery to successfully remove the cancer. Whether that has anything to do with anything, I don't know.
Definitely, if my dog doesn't like somebody, there must be something wrong wit that person. I trust my dog before a stranger any day. Good question.
Nope. Carbon hated everyone that was outside of the garden, at least until some of the strangers started caressing him. Carbon would allow them to pet him but when they stopped he would start barking at them again. But he never pounced onto people that entered the house, nor I remember him being angry at someone.
Crazy little guy. I miss him.
I'm glad the operation was successful! My Gram is fighting cancer now. I hope she's just as lucky. Glad the kitty came around, too--my kitty hates newbies I guess. Brought someone home and the kit-cat wouldn't come near us for days.
Heh, I know what you mean.
Awwww, that's sweet. I remember your stories about him on EP. I'm lucky to've had some really nice dogs, too... Thanks for sharing.
Of course. Mine are horses, donkeys and a cat. They read people just as unerringly as a dog.
But all animals read body language more accurately than we humans do.
They read the micro-signals that are unconscious, below the levels of masks.
They also smell around 500 times more sensitively than we can.
They can smell emotions, read tension and intent.
Yes. It is.
My dog Lulu loves everyone and thinks everyone comes here to see her.
