Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» The older I get the more age seems irrelevant. I was always the youngest one in a group. Now I'm often the oldest. I feel younger now! HOW?
Because in your mind you still are the youngest. Age should be irrelevant (note: age does NOT equal maturity). It's society that puts limits on age - age limits on relationships, age limits on a person's "usefulness", (and so forth). Even though many people claim that "age is just a number", they still follow society's limits on age.
The internet levels the playing field. We are our words and that is all we will ever need to be. Not how old we are, what we look like, or our financial circumstances. That and the fact that you can meet folks from all over the world whom you would never meet otherwise is the allure/draw/pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I have great internet pals who are my peers who are young enough to be my kids, grandkids...maybe even greats and it matters not one bit. All that matters are the words we offer to one another. That is magical! Thank you for your reply Shuhak! :)
Yes it does! I've met better friends online than in real life. People take interest in others for who they are (on the inside). The internet removes many social barriers - age, gender, nationality, physical charastics, language, (and such) ... things that in"real life" might mar or prevent a friendship due to social stigmas. (I hope I worded that right)
You always word everything right Shuhak in my opinion. Our words define us. We are attracted to someone because of his/her words or repelled by them. I suppose one can also be indifferent but I rarely am. I'm either all in or all out. I'm not a "I can take it or leave it" person usually. Middleground for some reason doesn't call to me often. Thank you for your thoughtful reply! :)
As I recall, the skull thickens as we age---possibly to protect the wisdom that some acquire as they get older.
On the other hand, many die mentally at 30 and aren't buried until they are 90+
So if you are more insightful as you age, you are mentally younger than many others who are younger than you chronologically but whose brains never get used.
Very nicely stated m'dear. Anything unused atrophies. Isn't the brain a muscle? Mine is in constant use. Whether for useful purposes or not it's always engaged. In fact some nights I have a really hard time going to sleep. My mind is a very disobedient part of me and I cannot order it to relax, kick back, enjoy the respite from "thinking". ARRGGHH. Thank you for your reply tom.
