Many people want to stay young.  SO much so that they'll mutilate their bodies or inject toxins into it all in a vain attempt to remain young.

Most women want to be attractive. They'll put dyes made of plants and/or rocks on their faces, acrylics in/on their eyes and nails and even change the color of their hair.  Just who they're trying to be attractive to remains a mystery.

Some people want to stand out.  They'll dye their hair outrageous colors, put holes in their ears, noses, cheeks, and other places on their bodies, they'll inject dyes under their skin to form words and/or pictures - all in attempt to stand out or be "different".

Yet no matter what  a person does to their body, they're still themselves underneath.  No amount of paint, surgery or adornment can ever change theat. Yet people spend billions and billions of dollars trying to change themselves from the outside.  "If I were more "beautiful" people would like me more".  "If I got rid of all these wrinkles I'll be younger".  "If I enhanced/removed my (insert body part/s) I'd look/feel so much better".
So they change their bodies appearance.  For a moment they may feel like it worked, but after awhile they discover that they're still the same person they were before.  Changing the outside is ok, but people need to change their "inside" first (mindset, attitude, etc.)  Otherwise they may just be putting 'lipstick on a pig'.

I'm a plan-wrap dame. Always have been. Dyed my hair ONCE at age 27. I had dark brown hair and I wondered what it would look like black. I rue that day. So it worked okay except black hair was not very attractive. It made me look harsh. After a week or two I decided I wanted to go back to my "natural" color so I asked the gal to strip off the black and re-dye it dark brown which she did. I was happy. EXCEPT that within six weeks I was a redhead! I'm not joking. The sun apparently did a number on that dye job so I had to have it RE-DYED dark brown. I learned my lesson. Never again did I try to be something I'm not. I wore a modest amount of makeup when I worked but haven't worn it for decades. My hair is very long. Salt and pepper. I just wear it back in a simple hair clip. I do polish my toenails though. I wear sandals all the time and I love sparkly toenails! An old woman's conceit perhaps? It pleases me. As for the rest I believe in reconstructive surgery if someone is disfigured in an accident or has a birth defect. But otherwise I would never go "under the knife" for vanity. I'm not vain at all. Never was. Too old to start now. I am slender and I haven't shrunk (well, 1/2") so all in all I'm very okay with how I turned out. It is all me. Except for the wire in my right ear which replaced a frozen stapes. So I hear bionically with that ear. I also have an interocular lens implant in my right eye. That's it.  Am I drop dead gorgeous? Nope. I never was although when I was younger I could hold my own. What you see is whatcha get. I tell folks my age all the time. I have nothing to hide, no one to impress, no one to try to make Brownie points with. Apologies for the lengthy reply and thank you for your response Shuhak. I agree with thee of course. I doubt that anyone can really change the inside. They can lie and pretend and fake it but a real change? It ain't gonna happen. I remember as a young woman walking behind what I thought was a young woman. Long dark hair, slender figure. I got ahead of her for some reason and when I saw her face I was SHOCKED. She was quite old and wrinkled and wore so much makeup it caked up in her wrinkles. It was something out of a Grand Guignol horror story. That impressed me greatly. I wanted to age gracefully not like that! I still see her after 60 years in my mind's eye! Ghastly!
