Some actors/actresses just OWN a part. Sean Connery's "James Bond". Rosalind Russell's "Auntie Mame". Others?

Sometimes they redo a play/movie with different actors and I think that rarely works out well. I mean Gregory Peck IS Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird". Who could do it better? Judy Garland in Wizard of Oz?
