He did. Apparently he struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. That is why I asked the question that upset you. Because suicides are growing in America. Even those who seem to "have it all" don't value it. Why I don't know. Thank you for your reply.
I think it is an answer for many people these days especially in certain situations. People who do not want to continue with life, people who are dying and want to spare themselves and those close to them the pain of a slow and painful death. Some see it as a positive act of will and manly courage like Hemingway. And people who feel no responsibility or connection to others.
Many of us were brought up with the notion that we have responsibilities to 0thers as well as to ourselves and to end our lives prematurely is to shirk such responsibilities. Or we were brought up that life is so sacred and valuable it must at all costs be preserved and lengthened. Most of us have things we enjoy about our lives that we don't want to let go of so we just automatically want to live. But it is our choice. Like almost everything else.
