Well it is a woman's choice. So if she chooses a doctor that cannot admit her to a hospital and something goes wrong it is her choice. If the clinic does not meet health standards it is her choice.

I am fine with the decision.

    Hello d:

Prior to the Texas law requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, those doctors had a "working relationship" with those hospitals to admit their patients, even though the doctor didn't have admitting privileges.   So, the law did NOTHING to protect women.  Clearly the Supreme Court SAW this, and shitcanned the law.

In fact, by REDUCING the number of abortion clinics, poor women who can't travel, MIGHT be forced to use a coathanger to perform her own abortion.  The court recognized that too, so the law, IN FACT, makes women LESS safe.

Gee, so Deaves supports gun rights, but not abortion rights, even when your Supreme Court holds it up! It's a constitutional right, ain't it? I thought Deaves supported the constitution. Someone turned his hypocrit switch on today!

Thank you for your fine answer excon.  Yes. A vote of 5-3 in fact. Kennedy was the swing vote. So maybe all the other states that followed suit and copycatted the method of depriving women of the LEGAL RIGHT to make choices for themselves will be overturned. It will take time of course to get back to where they were. A long time. But at least the path is cleared. A surprising and hopeful victory based on reason, logic, truth and common sense. Imagine that? SCOTUS came down on the side of what is right. Happy Tuesday!  :)

Yes. There are a few of them who seem unable to resist my questions HarryD. I would be flattered if they ever had anything of value to contribute but they don't. They are predictable. They all read from the same script and often use the same words. Why I appeal to them I do not know. They do not remotely appeal to me which is why I NEVER read their posts once I identify them. And so it goes. Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)

A defeat for woman's safety.  If a doctor is going to perform outpatient procedures, they should be required to have admitting rights at a local hospital for the safety of the patient.

It really sucks to have to go to the ER and wait for them to get you in.

    Hello my:

Yeah, it would, if it were so, but it ISN'T, and never was.  It's right wing talk..

Lemme ask you this..  What's SAFER for a women seeking an abortion?  NO abortion clinics, or one with a doctor but with NO admitting privileges??  If there were NO abortion clinics, do you think she'd FORGO an abortion, or do you think she'd get creative about it?

Deaves' comment was a backhanded, patronizing, passive aggressive swipe at women, suggesting that they are taking a risk with their health, and too bad if something "unfortunate" happens. Kind of like a shrill parent who tells their kid not to climb trees, and when disobeyed, they petulantly shout "FINE! Don't come crying to me if you fall and break your leg!"

I think I am going to change my position on abortion. I think I will start supporting abortion. Since the majority of abortions are  sought by democrat women it is a good thing.

Why would it be a majority of Democrat women seeking abortions? I have disagreed with you up to now, Deaves, but I never disliked you. That has changed with this unnecessarily nasty little post.

Funny how the Supreme Court decided that the requirement was not necessary to the safety of the patients. But somehow you know better?

Deaves is an unnecessarily nasty little man. I'm not surprised by his tirade here AT ALL.

    Hello Capn,

It would help matters if you familiarized yourself with the thread BEFORE you started casting aspersions.

Why is that any different than someone on here calling for the murder of Trump?

60% of abortions in NY City are black babies. Why is there no outrage on that?

The Texas Abortion case filed by Texas GovernorGreg Abbott is about defunding Planned Parenthood to close all the Clinics in Texas. They already closed 23. Only 20 were left in large cities of Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

Those clinics that are still opened serve all poor women who have Medicaid who pay for
pay for healthcare. Republicsns don't want any taxes to go to paying for any women services concerning contraception and abortions.

However, Medicaid is a federal-state funded program. They don't have total say about funding it.Texas is also one of the states that doesn't support the Medicaid-expanded program offered by Obama.

What's next? They aren't finished. While they lost the battle, they don't think they have lost the war. They are hoping Trump will din, so they can elect conservative supremes to return it to the Supreme Court.
