Alienating allies and embracing adversaries is a different strategy. What would be its purpose?

Have no idea.  Could never figure out why Obama was so keen to alienate Israel.  Some have suggested because he was brought up to hate Jewish people while others suggested he viewed the Arabs as the discriminated-against "minority" of the world.  Have no idea if either of those are true.
