Dictator- and despot-led countries proud of their human violations are gaining ground. We hoped they'd do the opposite. What did you hope?

Instead of decrying excoriating despot dictators for the evil they do we are now complimenting them effusively. Why? Why to get along better of course. Compliments work wonders. Criticisim doesn't. Doing what works is the mark of a master negotiater. Izn't it?
