Michael Phelps keeps going strong and winning medals for the US. Who is the greatest Olympic athlete there ever was in your opinion? Why?

Phelps is awesome but one-dimensional. He swims. I will have to vote for Bob Mathias, who won the decathlon twice. (1948 and 1952) You have to be ten dimensional to do that.

Caitlyn Jenner aka Bruce? Jim Thorpe? Billy Mills? I don't know if that  amazing American female athlete Babe D edrickson ever competed in the Olympics but she was some athlete in her day. Thank you for your reply Ele!  :)

I actually consider Babe as the BEST athlete EVER...male or female. She could do everything.
