Are cats really demons in disguise?

Any cat will instinctively kill any other creature it can take down.

How can a human love such a vicious creature?

Is it just because they are pretty? Are you only attracted to surface beauty?

That's what makes cats so cool though.

  • That's like asking if we still love humans even though they still kill other humans. Just because some humans kill other humans doesn't mean we should tell ourselves that we are all vicious despite the many good ones. Despite what the human ego tells you yes humans do kill for fun. All living creatures have a breaking point we are not machines. Dogs are known to possess certain types of violence yet we still stick up for those breeds (and rightfully so) while some breeds posses violent qualities this does not make them nor will predict if they are violent or not and yet there is still many factors of why something is violent.

I've never gotten attacked by my cat when she was alive and I had her for 20 years. I had her since I was about 4 years old

Prairie Dogs are herbivores and will kill competing squirrels:

"Though around 13 percent of killers did have a nibble on their victims, they never ate more than 5 percent of the carcass, which was typically later scavenged by birds, therefore ruling out the possibility that prairie dogs engage in this behavior for nutrition. Such an observation would appear to back up the theory that this inter-species violence serves to eliminate competition for food, particularly in the restricted area to which new mothers have access.

During the six-year period, a total of 47 different prairie dogs were observed killing at least one ground squirrel, with 19 identified as serial killers, meaning they killed on multiple occasions. Of these, the most prolific included a female that killed nine squirrels over four years, and another that slaughtered seven juvenile squirrels from the same litter on a single day.

Interestingly, prairie dogs that killed squirrels were found to have superior reproductive fitness than those that did not kill, and the more victims a female claimed, the more offspring she was able to raise. Serial killers tended to produce litters that were three times larger than those of non-killers."

"Summing up, the researchers claim their study provides the first evidence of interspecies killing for reasons other than predation, shattering the illusion that herbivores are peaceful and non-violent."

  • Cat #1 (spent entire life indoors):

Look Mommy, I found something to play with (drops mouse on floor in front of me, I'm freaking out, bats mouse around, mouse plays dead, cat gets distracted, mouse runs off who-knows-where, now I'm really freaking out, where the eff did the mouse go, I'm never going to be able to sleep).

    Cat #2 (rescue from outside):

Look Mommy, I found food (drops mouse on floor in front of me, I'm freaking out, picks up mouse and proceeds to munch it down head first, I watch as the tail is the last to go down like someone eating spaghetti, I sleep soundly).

    Gotta love 'em.

My cat enjoys eating wild baby rabbits. He catches them and starts by eating the entire head first. I heard him crunching the skull!  I have managed to save a few before he could begin dining. Saved a few chipmunks, too.
