    Only if you leave it.  You dab it on and almost immediately get it into water.  You are right that it will eat right through fabric if you leave it.

    Something else that people use that works surprisingly well is that stuff mechanics use on their hands; it comes in a jar.  I'm going to see if I can find the name; I can't remember it right now................Goop!  That's it.  It gets stains out of clothes.  The last suggestion is heavy duty Resolve carpet cleaner.  I have gotten serious stains out of clothes and even a mattress once using Resolve.
