Do educated people turn you on or off? Are you one of them? Education is okay if the educated person is dumb, right?

Education doesn't turn dumb into intelligent. A person who has a degree isn't scary unless the person who has one is very smart. The "educated" dumb with degrees are lovable aren't they? Nothing intimidating about them. They brag about their degrees but between thee and me we all know this...they may have memorized some facts but have no clue what they mean or what to do with them. Jolly good thing too, right?

Smart and dumb are subjective.  Even the most educated person is dumb (stupid).  Sure, they may be able to rattle off facts and figures better than one who has less education, but that doesn't necessarily make them "smart".  It makes them "book smart".  Yet, surprisingly, someone with no education at all may actually be smarter than someone who has multiple doctorates.  So what does make a person "smart"?  Wisdom.  Unfortunately, they only teach facts in schools... not wisdom.  Not in an ivy league college; not in a community college; not even in grade school!  School's easy - memorize certain facts/figures and then parrot them back for the tests.  Wisdom's not so easy.  It's not found in books.  Most profs (professor/teacher) stand up there and lecture students on facts - not wisdom.  Not that students care, they just want to get that piece of parchment that says they "passed the required tests".

Bragging "I went to Harvard", or "I attended Cambridge", or "I graduated from MIT"  might sound prestigious, but it doesn't mean you're not "dumb".  Wisdom doesn't brag.

The reason for the question is simply this.  Years ago education was the goal. Parents wanted their kids to be educated. Today education/knowledge/intelligence is feared and therefore it is demeaned diminished excoriated. King dumb one brags about his education yet he is as dumb as a fence (no disrespect to fences). A degree means diddly when what you learn is neither understood nor utilized. I'm gonna ask it. Thank you for your reply Shuhak! :)
