Parents who had severe trauma/stresses in childhood are more likely to haave kids with behavioral health problems. How are you? How are they?
This was per a study by Dr. Adam Schiekedanz, pediatrician, health services researcher and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. As you go, so go your kids. Didja know?
True dat, SA but I never really thought about the downside. Tennis-playing or golf-playing parents influence kids to play tennis/golf. What your mom cooks when you're kid is often your favorite comfort foods your entire life. Stuff like that. The dark side of being a human also travels through generations and that part I didn't consider. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :)

Yes, I was aware of a similar phenomenon.. that parents who were abused as children are more prone to become abusers of their own children... Very sad and we know how that happens, people are conditioned, feel helpless and often the only way they can deal with it is to go on to be the one who is in charge and in the position of getting their own back...
It's called a cycle of abuse... but the good news is, it can be broken... it can and thankfully it does happen, just not always :(
As i wrote to S/A I never considered that side of parenting. You grow up eating certain things which often become your favorite foods as an adult. They always remind you of mom and home. Or whatever sports the parents play the kids will probably also play. The upside of parenting. But the other side of it didn't occur to me. There are assets and liabilities to having the parents we have. I just was thinking of the asset side although greedy cruel racist parents are probably gonna raise greedy cruel racist kids. Poor kids. They have no choice! Thank you for your reply Addb! :)
