TGITWH is worshipped adored revered. A first. A human being that has for whatever reason taken on the aura of a god, a king, a father figure. Why is that?

    C'mon, Rosie.
He's far from the first mere mortal worshiped as a god figure.
Even if you discount Jesus, there are thousands of precedents ... from Ancient Egypt, Maya, Inca, etc.
Or, if you prefer more modern times - the Emperor of Japan, through the end of WW2.
Even more modern, though a much smaller scale: Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

You're missing my point Walt. My fault. I did not make the question clear enough I guess. I am only concerned with that which affects ME. None of those whom you listed have anything to do with me or my life. I have enough on my plate with the doings and sayings of TGITWH. No time to speculate about what it was like for other folks during other times under other dictator despot traitors. What US prez has gotten away with more AWFUL that  TGITWH Walt? More illegal? More reprehensible? More blatant? More greedy? More lies? More self-aggrandizement and enrichment? His base so worships and adores him that he can do/say anything including selling us out to the enemy and they will defend/support. If you can name another AMERICAN prez that was more anti-American and anti-people and anti-free speech and anti-poor and anti-immigrant and anti-protection of people and environment and anti-everything that we used to hold sacred I will apologize. Seriously. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday. It is hot as he** here in Hemet, California. Hope where you are it's cooler! :) This post was edited by RosieG at July 25, 2018 4:27 AM MDT

Grant was widely criticized during his administration for corruption.

Lincoln was widely criticized for the Civil War, at the time.  And used his power to persecute his opponents.  Now he's viewed as one of our greatest Presidents.  Go figure.

Washington used military force against peacefully protesting war vets, who just wanted the pay they were promised.
Again, another of our "greatest" Presidents.

The saying goes that the victor writes the history books.
It will be interesting to see who writes the history of Trump's Presidency.
