Are you glad the wait is over for a movie about an airplane crash that happened 7 years ago?

Especially an uneventful one caused by birds, and all the crew and passengers safely disembarked?

Yes.  I for one wish to see this movie.  The more you know about flight, the more impressed you'll be by the feat accomplished by the pilot known as Sully.  Safely landing a jet airliner with a stall speed of some 185 knots (220 mph) on a body of water with zero fatalities (the definition of 'safe' in this context) is all but statistically impossible--yet this man did it flawlessly.

Only because the birds weren't the swallows going back to Capistrano..

  • I don't intend to diminish the skills of the pilot with this post, but as a rule I have no interest in Hollywood's version of anything 'based on a true story.'

edit-Their tagline is actually 'The Untold Story' for this movie.

Not really...It's kinda like Apollo 13...I was around when it happened and it was on the news 24/7. I'll wager Hanks did a great job though.

With the temperature of violence and accidents aplenty, this seems rather dull indeed

I can't wait to see it.  Sully's skill and cool head saved the lives of 155 people.  Prior to reading this question, I thought there was nothing but adoration for Sully but after reading just a little of the story on CNN.com, I learned that he was put under a lot of scrutiny for taking the action he did.  He was questioned about the last time he had a drink and people criticized his landing in the Hudson saying he still had one engine and that they felt he still could have landed safely.  This is such a rare thing that pilots are forced to land on water so they aren't even trained for such a thing.  So do I think he's a hero, yeah I believe he is.  I very rarely go to the movies but I will for this one.
