They forget their roots. their old neighborhoods, the circumstances of their childhood and take on a persona that is nothing like what they really are just to impress. Whom and why?
I see nothing wrong in wanting to make a better life for yourself and doing it. Maybe you want to forget about where you come from and you want something better than the crummy old neighborhood you grew up in with all its prejudices and limitations. A lot of places - if you do anything that makes yourself better you don't fit in anyway because they thrive on just trying to hold people back so they have to end up losers like everyone else grew up with.
