Is microphage a particularly scary word and rightfully so?

As a race, we are very frightened of things that are waaayyyyy smaller than us and things that are waaaayyyyyy bigger than us and rightfully so.
Unfortunately, we have the notion to kill first and ask question later.  Yes.  It is very scary and could be what wipes us out.
