Some answers here have a blue word embedded in them. Also, I have been re-routed to advetisements when clicking on questions.

The blue word leads to an ad if you click on it. Have you seen these?

No I haven't seen those "blue embedded" words. Then again, I haven't been looking for them either.  I will from now on.  I have been bombarded with some adds.  A little strip comes up on the left side of my screen.  I can't remember if that happens here or not.  I'm babbling.  I'll stop now. :)

I do have adblock but I might have disengaged if for answermug.  I can't remember.  It seems I have no brain this morning.  I'll get a cup of coffee. :) :) This post was edited by Merlin at August 28, 2018 3:49 PM MDT

I think some advertisers are finding a way around ad block. I'll ask JA.

Sounds more like you downloaded a virus. Have you checked out whether it's happening on other sites too? It may not be all sites- it just depends on how they're coded and what the virus targets. Run a virus scanner on your PC. You might also want to check your browser extensions. Sometimes crap gets added there when you download something.

From what I understand, adblockers are not removing the goodies and weight loss ads, but that's somewhat to be expected. When our prior advertiser service shut down, I set up contracts with prior advertisers on my own, so those aren't in place with traditional ad code- they're done like general images and links. There's no way for an ad blocker to recognize they're ads. It's 100% stored locally and no fancy coding. Ergo, there's no way that's causing an issue either, other than some people will see the ads even if they are using a blocker.

I haven't updated any kind of coding on the site since those went up, and that was a month or more ago, I think. There have been times in the past when I've said something wasn't a site problem and was later baffled to find out it was. So, I never say it isn't us anymore, but I can say with 99.9999999999% certainty, your problem isn't the Mug.

Thanks. I believe you. They are merely annoying and I just ignore them, but I will run a virus scan, although the blocker I have runs one each day. I may check it out with Geek Squad. One more thing. In your answer, the words 'weight loss' are blue. This post was edited by Element 99 at August 28, 2018 5:29 PM MDT

Yes.  Even on Martina's answer, "click here" was in blue.  Very interesting....

That was kind of vague.  Sorry.  'weight loss' is blue on my side of your answer. :) :)
