You're on a roll! I'm looking forward to hearing others' input on this one.

Because your goals are temporary fixes.   We live and dwell in the NOW and if you are not aware and need fixes to keep you going, the reality of your situation can be painful indeed.   People get attached too much  to what is unreal.  Tangible.   You cannot take anything with you where you and I are going.   It is indeed terrifying to face that fact when you husband drops dead in front of you, or your dog dies, or you go broke overnight.  What is left of all those good memories?  Just a longing for what was.

That is no way to live and that is HELL.  I take each day for what it is and I face my death every day.   I know this may be the last day and I'm fine with it.  I also know that this probably is NOT going to be the last day and I plan as well as I can to make my life bearable.  I am content with little and I won't miss what I don't have when I die.

That is all I ever wanted and I have achieved that so there WILL BE NO REGRETS at all.  I know this is not the end.

People who are terrified of death and are attached to everything here are people who do not believe that we can possibly go on.  They are attached to TIME.  How can we go on?   HOW?  Because there is no time and never was.  So I let go of the necessity of caring too much about what I have not yet experienced.   I have let go of caring about Time pretty much unless I have a physical appointment I must keep.  There are still physical laws we all must adhere to, but we do not need to take them as the only laws.

That is called "retirement", and one common result is a heart attack after two years or so.

That's not a problem. Find a new goal.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply Sharonna and Happy Friday.   That reminds of the song sung by Peggy Lee decades ago. "Is that all there is?"
