Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Cat 4 Hurricane Florence is heading for the Carolinas. Hope the damage is minimal. Fingers crossed good luck. Might you be affected?
We're about to learn the drill down here. It's very reminiscent of a year ago at this time when we were dodging a couple of back to back hurricanes. It appears this time that we will be on the "weak" side of the storm barring some significant shifts. Still, there will be the rains to contend with and the possibility that this thing could stall and add insult to injury. If we can keep the power up and running, we may be alright. We're rural and depend on a well for water supplies, so we hope that a protracted time of power loss won't be in the picture.
Apparently one million folks are being evacuated. The largest evacuation ever due to impending weather. A meteorologist said that it might drop to a Cat 3 but then gain force and go back up to a Cat 4. He also said that it looked as if it might be a very slow-moving hurricane which means a lot of rain and a lot of flooding as it stalls over the land. Good luck DA. Hope the "weak" side doesn't shift and that you don't experience "worst case". I think the storms may last past Sunday into Monday and Tuesday. Please let us know how you do. Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday to you! :)
