We have wild ferns around here that get some mighty tasty fiddle heads. They are one of the things I look forward to ever spring. Cheers!

In Massachusetts (this was in the late 1960's) you could get them at the market in the frozen food section just like a box of corn or peas. My then mil got some and I tasted them and oh boy they tasted so delicious. I don't know if she ever got any right from the ground but I wonder why they aren't in California or if they why I have never encountered any anywhere? Thank you for your reply L and Happy Wednesday! :)

I think it may be too late for me to get the heads now.  The curly part is what you eat, but those are found when they first come up in the Spring.  Happy Wednesday. :)
