USA has a Olympian who has won a metal for 6 consecutive Olympics. Why have never heard of this?

There are 2 in all on the USA teams but 1 did not play for the USA until recently when he immigrated to the USA.  Is it because of the type of sports?    Rifle shooter Kim Rhode, equestrian Phillip Dutton.
