Are storms getting more dangerous, occurring more frequently, dropping more water and causing larger storm surges than ever before?

Or does it just seem that way?  Of course the more an area is populated the more damage will be done. As our population grows every larger we build more structures and so there's more to lose. Is it just ordinary cyclical everyday typical or is something going on that is changing things?

Here is a list of tropical storms by year. I would have to graph it to see a trend.

Thank you Ele. With only one quick scan I noticed that what started out as single-digit years became more and more double-digit years. What the death tolls were or damage was in each case is not evidenced by that link's graph but the growing number of them is. :) This post was edited by RosieG at September 13, 2018 10:34 AM MDT
