Do you learn more from a teacher/instructor who guides through specific material or more on your own alone going where curiosity takes you?

  • I depend on someone in the room having more understanding of the subject than I do. With that said, I let that person lead and I gain as much as I can in the experience.

All the teachers had to do was point me in the right direction and show me how to use the tools.

I think that difference holds true in every aspect of life Ele. I was and am a very devoted student. Very curious and hungry to learn about everything. My mom played school with me at home when I was 3.  As you know I taught my son to read at a very early age as you did with your children. Then stand back and watch them go. That was true for me to. Not that it worked out in everything. There were some things that were very difficult for me to grasp and some I caught on to right away and some I worked at and one day the light came on! That was true in the jobs I held too. I did NOT want a supervisor to hover over me. I just wanted him/her to be knowledgeable and available if I needed help. I think being that way frees you because you don't have to rely on others for as much. Some folks can't function unless there is someone there holding his/her hand. Sheesh. Not moi. Thank you for your reply! :)

I had a division Officer on one of my ships. He told us "Chiefs, I have no idea what you do, but I know you do it well. If you need me, I'll be in my stateroom" We didn't disappoint him.
