  • You're touching very close, in this question, to one of the core teachings of Buddhism, easily experienced.

    We feel desire, aversion or neutral.

    The neutral is the hardest and most subtle to be aware of - usually masked by boredom - the desire to feel something.

    Desire covers all the things we like, are temporarily satisfied by or want more of.

    Aversion all that we dislike, are temporarily distressed by and want none of.

    All other emotions are specific variants of these three.

    I am not conversant with Buddhism hartfire although I do believe I read somewhere that the goal in Buddhism is detachment. To not be  invested in outcomes. Thank you for your thoughtful answer and Happy Wednesday!  :)
