Does having a temporary experience with something wonderful that cannot last do more harm than good? Is a little better than none?

In the movies "Charly" and "Awakenings" the characters had a temporary window into something wonderful. But it did not last. If you could have a temporary experience with "wonderful" would you take it even though you might never remember it? Why?
