You love piano music and want to learn how to play. You are told that is inappropriate but you may learn how to play the violin because the permissioners approve. How would you react to that? Why?

If I loved piano music and wanted to learn to play one, I would, regardless of if someone thought it inappropriate or not.

What if in so doing you broke a law? What if these folks who thought piano music was inappropriate created laws that prevented you from doing so?  Would you break the law learn to play surreptitiously? Of course teaching how to play would be illegal too so you'd have to teach yourself. Thank you for your reply  RC and Happy Thursday to thee!  :)

I would learn to play the piano by myself. In fact, that is how I learned to play the piano. I started playing the piano at three years of age. It was not until I was about 13 that I took lessons, but I could already play.

However, if I would be offered violin lessons, I would have taken them. The love of music would encourage me to learn to play any instrument.

I would think I was reading Atlas Shrugged or 1984 or Brave New World. . 

 If you learned to play by yourself you'd be breaking the law because the piano haters would make it illegal  to own, learn how to play and play the piano Marguerite. Would you put up with that?  People imposing their views by legislating something that would criminalize it? I took 4 years of piano lessons. I also took violin lessons but only for a few months.
