It is located at  the foothills of Italy 's Dolomite mountain range at the Austrian Border!

     Well m'dear  what have you got to lose? If there is truly no reserve and yours is the only bid are they obligated to take it? I don't know what the rules/regs/laws are regarding  auctions but I say go for it. How would you report that on your income tax though?   You have a  $ 40 million asset all of a sudden for which you paid a buck.  I know there are tax-free gifts you can give your family. I think it used to be $10,000 in a year but I don't know if that is still true. Well if you do get it for a buck you will have to hire a good tax accountant and maybe a real good lawyer! Good luck!
