If other presidents had closed the border and prevented immigration the john of don wouldn't be here. Neither would most of us. Right?

Isn't he German Scottish or something? Where does he come from originally? Where do YOU come from originally? Who cares what was or could have been? What is is.

So by your logic if any of our ancestors were immigrants then we should allow ALL immigrants?  Is that how you think?  Well it is no longer 1870 and just how many immigrants do you think we can pack in per square acre without the quality of life being negatively affected?   For everyone?  Is your idea of Utopia mile after mile of cheap tenements overflowing with "wretched refuse" most of whom not only have any idea of how to fit in but that our economy can not bear as well?  Whose ignorance and inability to help themselves will become further fresh meat for politicians who seek to divide us?

Do you think that every immigrant who came here during the late 1800s-early 1900s was wealthy and moved into a home in the suburbs or on Park Avenue?  Every major immigrant group was not wanted.  There were signs posted - Jews Italians, Irish need not apply when jobs were available.  Many of these people lived in "ghettos" when they arrived.  Do you think they knew how to "fit in" immediately upon arrival?  They learned English, worked hard, educated their children and moved up the socio-economic ladder.  They came here for the most part for the same reasons the immigrants are coming today - a better life where they can raise their children in relative peace.  Are there criminals within the caravan - probably, and they should be weeded out and sent home.  If there are 7,000 migrants and you divided them up between all 50 states, that would be 140 per state.  Are you telling me that isn't possible?

Make no mistake, I am not in favor of open borders and people should come here legally by application for citizenship or asylum.  Do I believe they were smart in conjuring up this caravan - no, I don't, but consider that they could have done this at any time during the Bush or Obama administrations, but they didn't.  They chose to do it during the administration of the one president who was most adamantly opposed to them coming here.

Moreover, it was your precious Ronald Reagan that began this whole amnesty business with the first million immigrants.

Yes, Reagan should have never agreed to the amnesty until the border was secure.
