    Because one end of the turd of statism is red, and the other end is blue.  Only buzzards fight over which end is better. :-)

    ...But seriously, urban residents are typically more liberal than rural people. Rural folk are used to getting by on their own wits whereas urbanites are heavily dependent on government.  People vote their addictions.

    It is a different lifestyle in the rural.  In cities the problems are cars and guns and in the city the city has to provide service for it to be practical for the city to run.  In the rural things like guns are tools and cars are a necessity and people do things for themselves without needing the city services. In the city too the people are packed and it is impossible to live in any sort of peace without restrictions on what people are allowed to do, but in the rural you can do anything without affecting your neighbor so you leave him to his business and he leaves you to yours.  And in the rural there is no need for so much money to live, no homelessness, food is cheaper, living is cheaper, so you work and you can live and it is not like the city where you can work 3 jobs and still not live.
