Female singer is Billie Holiday. Male singer Jim Morrison. Both because they sung with real feeling. I prefer feeling to technical ability.

Billie Holiday..."Strange Fruit". Haunting.  I know who Jim Morrison was but I don't recall what his voice sounded like. Thank you for your reply HarryD and Happy Saturday to thee! :)

Surely everyone remembers Jim Morrison's voice, Rosie. You must remember Light My Fire, at least! A Happy Saturday to you!

To the 'Benedict Arnold' up there --

I don't  think I've heard of The Felice Brothers but if that's Simone singing, I like his voice, too.

I think I've only known Wilson by most by name only - - a few big hits. This song certainly showcases his fine chops.

I don't think I paid attention to Fordham, either. Maybe know her by name. Sultry, earthy voice, or something like that.

I listened to both and liked the songs.  :)

Yes, at this point, Wilson is known solely for (Your Love Is Lifting Me) Higher An Higher, which I also love.
Fordham is a British singer and, unfortunately, never got much play on this side of the Atlantic.  I first became familiar with her during high school back in the early 90s.  I heard her songs only on an obscure AM radio station which specialized in fusion and accoustic jazz, progressive rock, electronic, ambient and new age.

I certainly enjoyed listening to her voice. And Wilson's, too.

Great!  Be sure to check out Fordham's songs Falling Foward and Manhattan Skyline too.

The first two that came to my mind --

    Patsy Cline

    Johnny Nash

I have a huge list of people to whom I like to listen, though
