People usually hang around people who are similar to them (behavior, likes, dislikes, hobbies, beliefs, etc.). That's how friends work. Rarely do people hang around (or are friends with) people whom they have nothing in common with. Take a look at your friends or the people you hang around with. How many of them have nothing in common with you whatsoever? Zero? Similarities are what join people together (friends, companions, spouses). When those similarities fade or change, it can mean an end to that relationship. The more similarities one shares with another, the stronger the bond of that relationship (usually). Thus the proverb "birds of a feather flock together".
There's another proverb - a man is known by the company he keeps". If one associates with schmucks long enough, they will become a schmuck themselves ("bad company corrupts good morals"?). It's best for one to disassociate themselves from "losers" as quickly as possible, lest they become a "loser" themself.
Here's what I think m'dear. If you lie down with schmucks ya gotta be a schmuck too. Unless you are totally brain dead and don't know any better or have the mental acuity/capacity of an infant. Now you don't vilify babies for pooping or spitting up or crying. Why? Because that is what babies do. They are SUPPOSED TO! Fast forward to our current prez. He figuratively poops over anything.anyone he doesn't like as well as spits up on it or at it. He is always crybaby whining and engages in rages and hissy fits and temper tantrums and rants. Ever hear of the "terrible twos"? Ever hear of "arrested development"? Well we have a prez poopy drawers who for whatever reason did not evolve into an adult. SIGH. So here we are! Well, it depends on how evolved you are and what the objective is. Mere mortals need to steer clear of bad influences. I don't care how good you are, if you are surrounded by a sea of idiots or worse, you are going to get infected with their negative behavior. At best, you may not even hate them, but you will lose your foundation and start really being miserable or else, join in.
Jesus could handle it. He went among all kinds of people in the masses he preached to. But Jesus was very strong in Himself and no one could touch His Divinity.
Me? I need to stay away from evil -doers. It makes me want to at least verbally punch their lights out.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply Sharon and the graphic. What we have is prez poopy drawers. He never matured into an adult version of his baby self. His worshippers adore him for it apparently. Not thee and me or others of our "ILK". I gotta ask a question about it. SIGH. I just gotta.
