Doesn't porosity make you vulnerable? I mean how useful is a porous glass? Anyhoo  reciPROCITY and Porosity are not remotely analogous Mm. I wonder how you got there from here? Why reciprocal brings to mind porous? Can you elucidate s'il vous plait? Merci mille fois et Happy Sunday! :)

Here's what I gather thus far. Your sense of humor and mine and not on the same page. With some adjustment on my part maybe they will be. Thank you for your reply Mm and Happy Monday! :) This post was edited by RosieG at December 10, 2018 2:53 AM MST

Thank you for your reply L and Happy Monday. It's way easier for me to reach out a helping hand to someone than reach out for help. :)

Thank you L. My mom told me years ago that people liked to help others out if they could  because it made them feel needed and gave them a way to show their love. It brought me up short to say the least. I never realized I was that way. Being always willing to help but rarely to never asking for it. Can't say I changed much after that but at least I was aware of it. :)

I like to think that I try to help because it's the right thing to do.  Sometimes, I don't even know the person I helped - a charitable donation, etc. :)

As I've gotten older I've gotten bolder. If I see someone who looks particularly nice for whatever reason I speak up. I always get a thank you and a smile. I NEVER fake it. I just share with them what I'm thinking. You never know when a compliment from a complete stranger will perk someone up who is down. I wouldn't have had the nerve to do that when I was younger L. I think being an old dame gives folks a sense of comfort that I'm safe and not a threat. However I NEVER compliment men because I'm kinda shy and don't want them to think the wrong thing. You know what I mean! :) Thank you for your reply!  :) This post was edited by RosieG at December 10, 2018 12:55 PM MST

I find myself talking to people on the supermarket line, at the bank while I'm waiting, in the elevator is they don't have their noses in their phones.  I'm sure people think I'm nuts - who cares?  Being single, I'm a bit bolder than you - if the opportunity presents itself to compliment a man without it looking like a "come on," I will.

If they smile and chat back they probably appreciate being noticed L. I do as you do and mostly I get very positive feedback. You can tell just by looking at them whether or not your overture will be appreciated. The ones who avoid eye contact I stay away from. The ones who make eye contact and return my smile? Well that's an invitation to engage! Were you ever shy? I was extremely so as a child and so there are vestiges of that I still have inside. Thank you for your reply! :) ((hugs))

I was quite shy (I know that's hard to believe) until I was around 20.  Then I started to go see someone who was very outgoing and who could talk to anyone at any level.  Being with him made me realize that I could do that, too.

Giving is love, taking is acceptance, reciprocity is business, trade.

Reciprosity is not always trade, business.  When you give love and someone loves you back, unless you're a hooker, it isn't business.
