Our transmission died yesterday. We have a 2003 Honda Accord. Cost will be about $3800 to repair. Is a 15-year life typical?

    It depends on how many miles you've put on it and how hard you were on it.    Most trannys last about 75,000 to 80,000 miles. However, the more miles you put on it  the sooner it'll wear out.  The harder you are on it, the sooner it'll wear out as well.

    We have 122,000 miles on it Shuhak. Googled the average life of a transmission and it's anywhere from 130,000 - 180,000 miles. Found out that the 2003 Honda Accord transmissions had problems. We got the car in 2008 with about 40,000 miles on it. So we've had it 10 years and almost made to the low end of "average". Thank you for your reply.
